What a way to cheer me up!

I've been kind of bummed today. Ok, so the furnace will be fixed pretty inexpensively, as long as there is only one problem. And we did get one vehicle working. We still have my van and my car out of commission. The washer and dryer are done for, I have a smaller washer to get me through, thankfully. The freezer was not freezing, but now the whole thing went. No more fridge either. And we were going to get another car last night, but our brother in law is psycho and decided AFTER we left to go pick it up that we can't come get it because he's afraid that he will be liable if we get in an accident on the way home, even though we'd have paid him, taken possession of the vehicle AND had insurance on it. Nothing we said could convince him otherwise. I checked with insurance and they said that is a purchase agreement and it would absolutely be our liability even thought the title would still be in his name for a few days.

Now I had the appliance repairman out and he said the fridge is dead. Great. He didn't seem to even want to fix the dryer and washer, which I just don't understand. The dryer needs a motor, $60, way cheaper than a new large capacity dryer, helloooo. And the washer only needs a belt! But he is so completely pessimistic about those, too. (he called back and sounds much more optimistic!)

So, I'm pretty much in tears. However, I checked my junk mail today, which I always do, and I found these two emails:

1. You have won a $25 Best Buy Gift Card for participating in the contest athttp://www.iwantmysamples.com I think you may have won twice LOL. I know you won one of them but my daughter also pulled out momsblogging.com and from the looks of it you posted that one too. Let me know if I'm wrong.
2. Congratulations! You are the winner in my Learning Tower contest. Looking at your blog, it seems like you could use one for your little ones! I hope you enjoy it! I really want one, too! Naomi http://superdumbsupervillain.blogspot.com/
I am completely blown away. I've kind of been on a role at these contests again. I won a nursing necklace, a HUGE scrapbook package, a t-shirt, some baby clothing, a pendant (which I can't wait to get!), and some other things, too. I know, crazy!
I was so amazed when I got the Best Buy win because we ALWAYS buy Christmas presents and gift certificates from them. And we always get them, too, since Donnie's brother works there, lol.
But the Learning Tower win blows me away. I wouldn't have even checked back to see if I won that one, because I never even dared actually HOPE I'd win it.

I'm off to get ready for my stamp club meeting! That will be relaxing and fun, just what I need.

Where to start........

I could tell you all how horrible my day has been, starting with waking up and finding my blow dryer will not work in any plug in the house for more than 2 seconds, and then find my curling iron has been taken apart by some little terrors, so I have to throw it away and go to work ugly, then on lunch break my mom calls and tells me something horrible that happened to her and I can't help her, and then went to the orthodontist and found that the surgery for Kaytlin's braces is going to cost extra beyond the $5000 AND she will have to wear a retainer forever, and then we drove around the cities for practice driving and on our way home the van broke down, and we called AAA and they came out and got the van on a tow truck and when we went to leave in the car, (Donnie was following us home) the car battery died from the hazard lights being on, so another tow truck with a battery jumper had to be called.

But instead I am going to tell you a praise and something funny. Besides praising God that we have AAA, which I will buy forever now, Donnie was with me and I didn't have to deal with it alone with 3 kids! And I got Kaytlin a great winter jacket for only $25 at Plato's Closet! And I am working, so maybe we can fix at least the car, if not the van.
So, after the ortho Kaytlin, Sam, Trinity and I are sitting in Dairy Queen eating ice cream. I'm pretty busy dealing with Sam and his new discovery of being horrible. There are 4 teens sitting near us, I think they are all boys, Kaytlin says only 2 were boys, but if they were girls they were very masculine boys with no b00bs and boy clothes and faces and hair, and there were a couple of teens ordering and several teens working. Then it was us. So out of the blue Trinity loudly says "Mommy has a baby in her tummy!" (which is not true that I know of, btw) And then she says something unintelligible followed by "and my Mommy's b00bies!" said EXTREMELY loudly as only a 3yo can. Those boys were trying so hard not to die from the laughter they were chocking back! Kaytlin's face hit the table, literally. And I just smiled and kept cleaning Sam up, and then the table and on until we could quickly get out of there so the boys could guffaw as much as they wanted to.

When we got home I was feeding Sam some cereal, since we discovered that is the cure for him not sleeping at night!!!!!!! And when I go to give him a bite he barely opens his lips and sucks the food off the spoon. It is very aggravating. So I told him to say "Ahhh" and he did! He was so thrilled to be able to talk to me! Finally I am speaking his language! But why am I shoveling a spoonful of food into his mouth every time he tries to talk to me? LOL The first few bites he was shocked, he'd open his mouth and I'd shove in a spoonful. Eventually he got the hang of it, and then started spitting it out, much to the amusement of Trinity.
But its all worth it, Sam is not only ASLEEP at NIGHT, but he is sleeping in his CRIB!!!!!! I get to sleep in tomorrow, so I am happy.

How do you ever get ahead??

I know that we are always going to be broke while we have kids in the house, but how do you make it when you keep getting further and further and further behind? It is one thing after another, and sometimes you just can't let it go.
Like the vehicles. We have to have a vehicle. We have to have two because Donnie works so far away, and we need something that is big enough to hold us all, which would be bad for a commuter vehicle.
We get the vehicles all working, and then we even got them paid off! That's a big chunk of change we have in each paycheck now! But I don't know where it is, we are still broke, broke. I can't figure out how we made it with two car payments and full coverage.
Then the windshields in not one, but TWO of the vehicles are broken. One has glass coverage, but the other doesn't.
The power steering went out in Donnie's work car. Gotta fix that.
The dryer died in the beginning of summer. OK, I'll use the line for the summer and fix it in the fall when we sell our investments. Well, the investments are completely taken up with other major bills.
The roof needs to be replaced, but we can't even see a time in the future when that will happen.
The dishwasher doesn't work right, it runs, but the dishes come out dirtier than they went in. I have literally washed each dish before putting them in there and they came out dirty.
Today, I went in the basement to switch the laundry, and there was smoke in there. The washer is out now. And I use cloth diapers. And I have 7 kids.
The freezer portion of our fridge does not keep ice cream solid, though it does keep meat frozen, so we think that is dying.
And when the power was "accidentally" shut off last week, something happened to our furnace or A/C, because it doesn't work anymore. We have to have a furnace in a couple of months.
So, I MUST fix the washer, dryer, furnace, and the windows in the vehicles. They are not optional. The fridge will eventually force us into doing something, but hopefully will hold out.

I know that this stuff is minor. I mean, it could be really bad, it could be a child hurt, or a death or serious illness. I have the perspective in the right place. But I just don't know how it could get better. The more we work, the more our income grows, the more we pay things off, the worse things are getting.
It is enough to make me wonder if God wants us homeless or something. I know that God wants only the best for us, not to harm us, its not that. Its like, are we missing something and God is letting things go until we get it?
There is nothing we can do to change things, we can't control things breaking down. Budgeting and cutting back, etc, yes, but these things that are hitting us left and right are not things we have any control over.
I need to really pray and seek God's heart and be sure that there isn't something I need to deal with.

Things I need to blog/rant about

I have things I want to blog about, but I either don't have the time to do it justice, or I forget, or my camera cord is missing so I can't get the pic up.

There is a homeschooling vs. public/private schooling debate going on at another blog. I just don't agree with the ideas being said. I'm a lover of homeschooling. I do think it is the "best" way to teach your children, maybe the "ideal" way, after all, public school is actually a relatively NEW idea in the history of the world. But to say that God expects all Christians to do it is a stretch, not just a stretch, but a huge stumbling block and a lie.

I've been called to home school, and I've been released of the responsibility. By God. Because it is the better road does not mean that God calls everyone to it. Not every Christian is called to never use birth control or family planning. God designed breastfeeding, but Christian moms are not wrong or lazy for not doing it. God calls us each to our own "destiny" that is laid out before us by God Himself. Not by someone who says that God told them to do it, so everyone has to do it.

There are certainly tons of verses about teaching your children, but they are all about teaching them about God, not about academics. How God uses scripture to lead us to our own paths is up the Holy Spirit, but it is not for everyone. Didn't God say to train up each child in the way HE should go, not they way He told you your child should go?

I don't expect everyone to home school. I don't expect everyone to refuse vaccines. I don't expect everyone to leave their child intact, not circumsizing. (misspelled for obvious reasons) I don't expect everyone to give up all family planning control to the Lord. I don't expect everyone to be missionaries. Not everyone is going to be called to do the same things, or everyone would be a preacher and there would be no flock.

I think it is appropriate to point out the benefits of homeschooling and to encourage others to pray about it. It is not appropriate to assume that they are not walking in God's will if they are not led by God to do it. To cause a stumbling block like that in a person's life, to lead them to do your will rather than God's, that is just sin. Plain and simple.

I don't care if you feel that it is the right path, it doesn't mean you need to tell everyone that they are wrong. If you feel a brother is sinning you should point it out. Schooling is not a sin issue. Samuel was given over to be schooled away from his mother at 4 years old. God does not find that sinful. It was what was right for Samuel. It was not unheard of, either. God would not have accepted him in that position if he was supposed to stay with his mommy to school. Or at least not used that story to teach people through His Word.

Whew, rant over!
Hopefully I have time to locate my camera cord and can blog about my Mother's Day gift, its a doosie of a story!

Friday finale

Well, its actually Saturday morning, but I guess its still Friday on the west coast!
We are making a church pictorial directory, and this week are the photo shoots. The pictures are top quality, but its been very frustrating. We need as many people as possible to get in there, because we want every one's photos, and everyone gets a "free" 8x10 and directory. They said it was free, but they are charging tax and a $9.95 handling fee! Then, the people who plan it are supposed to receive a $50 discount on pics, but the salesman did not send them to us, and they conveniently can't give it without that. They finally decided to give me the discount and deal with it later, because I was not going to buy anything without it, and they were breaking their contract if they did not honor it. Thankfully the other 3 on the planning committee don't have their pics until next Saturday, so they have time to get it dealt with.
The pics were so fun to get made, though. The kids were cute and funny. I can't wait to get the pics back and find someone with a scanner, or I'll just take a pic of the pic and post it, because one of the shots is the kids all sitting on the ground in a group and Sam was put on Devon's shoulders and it was just so gosh darn cute! Sam did really well until the end, he was so over it, which really surprised me, because he's so happy and social, but he hasn't been acting normal the last few days.
Devon, however, seems to be getting better! The fever is gone, but he's still sleepy and has a sore throat, and grumpy as the day is long. That is contagious because I am even more grumpy than the day is long after dealing with the kids lately. Kaytlin refuses to wear what I wanted her to wear for pictures, even to the point of sneaking pants out of the house for pics and telling me she had appropriate clothes with her. It was too suspicious, so I searched her room and she had not brought a skirt with at all. So I called her and asked her what skirt she had brought, and she said "You weren't supposed to ask me that!" Umm, sorry dear, but you can't fool mom. So, even though you can't see below her waist at all, I forced her to wear the skirt, and almost was mad enough to force her to wear a fancy dress she absolutely did not want to wear.
After getting home and fighting with them to do chores, I was pretty close to losing it! Donnie told me that when he acts the way I was that I ask him if he's taking his meds, lol. Its not time for St. John's Wort, if that's what he's asking, but yes, I'm pretty stressed and mad at the kids.
One more day of pics at church, and tomorrow is also prom for Drew and Kaytlin, and paintball for Donnie, Devon and Cody. That leaves me with Hope-Anne, Trinity and Sam doing the pictures at church.
Maybe I should join my mom's blog and go whine over there, I have my own cheese.

My wonderful life, and all the junk that comes with it.

So yesterday Devon comes home from track practice and looks a bit worse for wear. He crashes and sleeps the evening away. Its apparent he is not well, but I'm not sure if its a combination of little sleep at Districts last weekend and track meets and track practice, or if he is sick. But as the night went on he became more and more red in the face and meaner and meaner to anyone making noise.
I finally had to send him to bed. But I got to thinking that he must have a fever with that red face, so I broke open my brand new underarm thermometer and head up to his room to take his temp. 104.8 Now way. So I grab him some advil and ice water and take his temp again. 105.5 WHAT??? I decide that the new thermometer MUST be wacko. So I head off to find the oral thermometer. By this time Devon has had the ice water and advil in him close to 10 minutes. His oral temp is 103.8. So I make a call to the nurse line and find that the combination of very high fever and a headache is bad news and they want him to be seen in the ER. Yikes! Devon really did not want to go, so I waited to see if he was going to come down in temp. He did, all the way down to 103.3.
Yep, trip to the ER is in order.
As I'm getting ready to go Hope-Anne points to my wall next to my downstairs bathroom door. There is a HUGE paint bubble full of liquid! The toilette upstairs is not steady, and apparently is leaking! I left Donnie to take care of that stinky job, you betcha I did!

So we head off the the ER and get settled in. They did two blood cultures, which they wanted from two different draw sites at least 1/2 an hour apart. And then an IV, chest x-ray and the kicker: a spinal tap.

Devon was around 3500 teens over the weekend, and his fever wasn't a baby, paired with a headache, they were very concerned.

He is still very high today, 103.1. But all the tests came back looking like he has a virus, but should be fine. If he doesn't break the fever tonight, I'll be taking him in to the doc tomorrow for a throat culture, which they did NOT run.

My first activity as Women's ministry leader

It was a very busy weekend, but I made it through! Sam started screaming fits on Wednesday after meeting Mac, who is a screamer. I thought it was weird, but whatever. Then on Thursday he broke out in a head to toe rash! It only got worse on Friday, but I couldn't get him to the doctor, so I could not be sure of what was wrong. I suspected an allergy but couldn't be sure.

I went to the retreat anyways because I was the leader, and Drew brought Sam to me a few times to nurse. But Saturday I had to have him with me because I didn't have a driver at home to bring him to eat. So Hope-Anne babysat him away from the ladies and other babies. I took him in and it was an allergy! I had switched laundry soap recently, and then found out Kaytlin broke out from it, too, but hadn't mentioned it.

The retreat went well! It was small, which is hard to keep a good head about, because I wanted it to be a "success" by numbers, but that is not what it is about. One of my written goals as women's ministry is to create smaller groups of women for more intimate sharing and support. I met women on a level I had not known before, and even found out another family in the church had gone through a reversal and had reversal babes! The speaker, who is my cousin, check out her blog Touching Heaven, was great! She has been called to Africa, her and her family, not just her, and it was great to hear about it.

Oh, the drama in my life recently! I am ready to pitch the whole used cloth diaper trading and buy new to avoid people who are unbelievably mean-spirited. But the good that has come from my review of someone's business is that my blog readership is going through the roof. Check out how my stat counter has risen since the owner posting in two different forums about me on Saturday. I hope that I gain some new readers and some new friends from it all. I know that I have gained many new friends through it already, as I was invited to two different forums over it. The drama got so crazy that the posting had to be stopped and people got infractions for the things they were saying, which may mean being banned for a few months in some cases.
I will also be removing a pic because someone who gave me permission to use her pic decided she didn't like me because I would not "obey" her every wish on my personal blog. It wasn't enough for me to give the maker of the diaper a link to her site, I was supposed to name her business and give her credit for it on the say-so of the person whose babe was in the pic, the maker of the dipe did not have a problem with the credit she received. I later acquired a dipe from her and love it so much I dedicated a post to her dipes, but I wasn't about to endorse her before I had tried the dipe. Unfortunately, I have ill feelings about using that diaper maker because of her "friend." If the dipes are so wonderful, and all the bad reviews are not true, why does she need to be so vehemenantly defended when there was nothing to defend? Its kind of scarey. Maybe I only got good service because when I got a dipe from her she already knew about my blog and talking about the dipes?? I realize it is her friend that is acting crazy, and telling lies about what happened, which were corrected by me, but because I pointed out she was lying and proved it, she suddenly wants her pic down. If I don't have her pic up, there is no reason to link to the maker of the dipe. She is hurting her friend. I don't have to remove the pic, once you are given written permission to publish something, its published, and they can't revoke it. But I will still do it because I don't want to deal with her and her public lies and bashing. (against forum rules, so she was reported.) All 10,000 members of that community have access to her tirade, and have access to my blog showing exactly what I did, and that she was lying.
I have someone else who is giving me a pic of their Superman diaper by the same maker to post, though, so I don't have to change anything else in the post. But still, I wonder if I want to promote that business now?
Ok, this is a book now, so I'll move on. I should have made it a Sunday Festivus post, lol.
Oh, I could post 13 of the meanest, or most ignorant comments made on my TT this week!

A church torn apart. *Updated

Post removed. Thank you for your kind words.
